Opinion piece by Mark Clark, Cemfree General Manager
We were thrilled to be invited to speak at the “Future Lab” section of the event. This was a zone that showcased seven innovative products from start-ups and global leaders that have the ability to transform the built environment.
Cemfree Managing Director, Wayne Zakers took the stage alongside other innovators at the “Future Lab” exhibit, offering a captivating glimpse into how our ground-breaking products are revolutionising the industry. With a thought-provoking presentation, he illuminated the pressing need for ultra-low carbon cement before delving into an overview of Cemfree’s pioneering technology. Through compelling evidence, he demonstrated how Cemfree’s products are driving significant reductions in carbon emissions.
I was impressed and inspired by the diverse range of companies in attendance, all passionate about making a real difference. The focus on sustainability has led to the creation of incredible innovations, from Mykor’s installations that use agro-industrial by-products and residues to Hydro CIRCAL 100R, the first building system company to manufacture door, window and curtain walling profiles from 100% recycled aluminium.
It gave me great confidence that as an industry, we are having the right discussions and moving in the right direction, with sustainability now a key focus for all of us. While events like UKCW are crucial for sharing knowledge, innovations and inspiration, it’s important that we translate our thoughts into action and work proactively together for a better future.
